Timers FAQs
What types of products are in the Timers collection?
The range includes visual countdown timers, flowing liquid sensory timers and moving Sand Art Sandscape displays. Countdown timers show a set time remaining; liquid timers and Sandscape displays provide movement to watch rather than a precise timed countdown.
How does a visual countdown timer work?
Set a countdown and the visible coloured section reduces as time passes. Both the Time Keeper and Countdown Mechanical Timer can be set for up to 60 minutes. This gives a visual reference for time remaining without having to read a clock.
Where can timers be used?
Use countdown timers for activities, breaks, study, work tasks or everyday transitions at home and school. Liquid timers and Sandscape displays can be offered as visual sensory activities. Choose according to the purpose and the person's preferences rather than assuming one product suits every situation.
Do the countdown timers make noise?
The Time Keeper does not continuously tick, but its audible end alarm cannot be switched off. The Countdown Mechanical Timer ticks during the countdown and rings a bell at the end. Neither should be described as completely silent.
How do I choose the size and power source?
The Time Keeper measures approximately 9 x 9 x 4 cm and requires two AAA batteries, not included. The Countdown Mechanical Timer measures approximately 20 x 20 x 5 cm and needs no batteries or charging. Consider the viewing distance, available space and sound preferences.
What is the difference between liquid timers and Sand Art Sandscape?
Liquid timers show coloured liquid flowing through a clear chamber when flipped. Sand Art Sandscape creates changing layers and patterns as sand moves through its frame. Both provide a visual display, but neither is a calibrated countdown timer or suitable for measuring tasks that require precise timing.
What age guidance applies to these products?
The Two Drop and Cross Over Liquid Timers are described for ages 5+ with adult supervision. Sand Art Sandscape is described for ages 6+. Follow each product's instructions, inspect for damage and keep items with small parts out of reach of younger children. A caregiver should manage countdown timers when a child cannot use them appropriately.
Can visual timers and sensory displays help with focus?
A countdown can provide a clear reference for a chosen activity or break. Some people enjoy watching flowing liquid or moving sand, while others find movement or sound distracting. Preferences and responses vary; these products should not be presented as guaranteed treatments for anxiety or attention difficulties.
How should I use and care for these products?
Follow the individual instructions. Keep sealed liquid displays intact and stop using cracked, damaged or leaking items. Follow the stated age and supervision guidance. Check battery and setup instructions for countdown timers, and use a purpose-built countdown when a specific duration matters.
