Active seating is built for bodies that need to move while they sit. Wobble cushions, balance chairs, wedge cushions, foot cushions, and sensory beanbag chairs all share one design idea: introduce small, controlled movement into the act of sitting so the body doesn't have to fight stillness.
The range ladders from "drops onto an existing chair" up to "purpose-built sensory retreat":
Many of our customers buy them for exactly this reason. Kids who need to move to focus often do better with a wobble cushion than a static chair — the small movements satisfy the body's need to wiggle without needing to stand up. We don't make clinical claims, but families and teachers consistently tell us this is one of the most-used items in their classroom toolkit.
Yes — they sit on top of the existing seat surface. Works on dining chairs, office chairs, classroom chairs, and floor seating.
All day for most adults and older kids. The cushion is designed for sustained use. Some people find their core gets a workout the first week as their balance muscles adjust.
Many NDIS plan managers will fund active seating as low-cost assistive technology, particularly for participants with sensory or focus needs. We're no longer NDIS registered, but you can purchase from us and claim through your plan manager.
Most-common combos: wobble cushion plus a weighted lap pad for kids; wobble cushion plus a hand fidget for desk focus; sensory pod plus ear muffs for full retreat-from-noise mode. See related categories: Fidget Toys, Hearing Protection, Calming & Sleep Tools.
All active seating ships from our warehouse in Taren Point, Sutherland Shire, Sydney. Smaller items (cushions, lap pads) ship 2-5 business days Australia-wide. Larger chairs (sensory pods, beanbag chairs) take longer due to courier handling — allow 5-10 business days. Sutherland Shire locals can arrange warehouse pickup.
