A reusable bed pad protects a specific sleeping area, while a waterproof fitted sheet covers the mattress. They solve different parts of the bedding problem, so start with the area you want to protect and how you want to handle washing.
This guide compares the Conni options listed at Sensory Assist, including a separate bed pad, a pad with tuck-ins, Micro-Plush waterproof bedding and a fitted sheet with a built-in pad. Browse the Continence Care collection to check current sizes, colours and availability.
Bed pad or waterproof fitted sheet?
Choose a separate bed pad to cover a particular area. The absorbent pad sits on the sleeping surface. Its waterproof backing protects the bedding directly beneath that area. It does not cover the whole mattress, so position and coverage matter.
Compare waterproof fitted sheets when mattress coverage is the priority. Conni Micro-Plush is lightly absorbent and waterproof across the top and down the sides. It can be slept on directly or used under an ordinary sheet. This differs from the more absorbent, targeted area of a bed pad.
Conni explains how the layers work together in its bedding layering guide. A mattress protector and a removable pad can serve complementary roles; you do not need to treat them as interchangeable products.
Compare the four designs
1. A separate reusable bed pad
The Conni Bed Pad is a removable pad with an absorbent core and waterproof backing. Start here when you want to compare specific-area coverage and the option to wash the pad separately from the fitted sheet.
Measure the area you want covered before choosing a pad. A bed size label alone will not tell you whether that area stays beneath the person using it. Check the pad dimensions on the exact listing or ask us to confirm them.
2. A bed pad with tuck-ins
The Conni Bed Pad with Tuck-Ins adds side sections that tuck under the mattress. Quintro lists this model as suited to single and king-single mattresses, with stated pad dimensions of 100cm by 100cm. Confirm the fit against your mattress before ordering.
Tuck-ins and the absorbent area are different parts of the design. Do not count the tuck-in sections as additional absorbent coverage. If you are comparing a wider bed, check the wider models in the collection rather than assuming this version will fit.
3. A Micro-Plush waterproof fitted sheet
The Conni Micro-Plush Single Waterproof Fitted Sheet is a mattress-protection option with an elasticised fit. The current store listing gives a 40cm sidewall depth. Measure mattress width, length and total depth, including any topper, before selecting a size.
Conni now also calls this range its Premium Mattress Protector with Micro-Plush technology. Check the exact product listing and pack contents: a manufacturer bundle that includes pillow protectors does not mean every individual fitted-sheet listing includes them.
4. A fitted sheet with a built-in bed pad
The Conni Fitted Bed Pad Sheet - Single holds the pad within a fitted-sheet design. Conni specifies that the pad component provides the waterproof, absorbent area; the surrounding sheet is not waterproof or absorbent.
This distinction matters when comparing it with Micro-Plush. A fitted shape does not automatically mean full waterproof coverage. Also consider whether you would prefer to remove a separate pad or wash the integrated sheet-and-pad item.
Plan the bedding and laundry together
Before adding several products to your basket, decide what each one needs to do. A practical setup might use mattress protection underneath and a removable pad on the sleeping surface. Check the instructions for the particular products and the bed you use.
If a pad is used regularly, consider whether a spare would be useful while the first is being washed and dried. Choose the right size and design first, then decide how many your routine needs. Buying extra items is only helpful when they have a clear role.
For washing, follow the care label supplied with the item. Conni's product guidance advises avoiding fabric softener and bleach, and using low heat when tumble drying. Check the exact item instructions before applying a general laundry routine.
A short checklist before you order
- Measure the mattress width, length and depth.
- Check the size of the absorbent area separately from the overall sheet or tuck-ins.
- Decide whether you want targeted coverage, broader mattress protection, or both.
- Compare separate and integrated designs against your washing routine.
- Check the selected size and colour's availability; some listed options may be sold out.
