Wheelchair FAQs
Are wheelchairs currently available to order?
This collection is being prepared. Wheelchair products are not currently available to order from this page. Contact Sensory Assist about a particular model, and do not assume availability until the product is listed for purchase.
What is the difference between transit and self-propelling wheelchairs?
Transit wheelchairs have smaller rear wheels and are designed to be pushed by an attendant. Self-propelling models have larger rear wheels with hand rims. The right choice depends on how the person will move and the support available.
How do I choose the right wheelchair size?
Check the specific model's seat width and depth, overall dimensions, maximum user weight and adjustment options. A paediatric or heavy duty label alone does not confirm fit. Seek professional advice if you are unsure about seating or support requirements.
Are all wheelchairs suitable for transport in a car?
Check the model's folded dimensions, product weight and removable components against the space and handling you need. Folding for storage does not mean a wheelchair is approved for occupied vehicle transport. Confirm any transport approval with the manufacturer.
Where can I find wheelchair parts and accessories?
Look in Parts & Accessories for compatible replacement components and add-ons. Match the exact wheelchair model and part specifications before ordering. Wheelchair cushions are listed separately in Cushions & Pillows.
