A replacement walking stick ferrule needs to match the cane it fits. If you are comparing a standard rubber tip with a three-point or four-point base, start with the tubing size, then compare the dimensions of the complete tip.
This guide compares three Max Mobility options for 19mm cane tubing. It is a buying checklist for replacement parts, rather than advice about which walking aid suits an individual.
What does 19mm mean?
The 19mm fitting refers to the diameter of the cane tubing the tip is designed to accept. It is different from the width of the base that touches the ground. A tip with a 40mm base is not a 40mm fitting.
Check your cane's model and its specified tubing diameter before ordering. Do not choose a replacement by its appearance alone. If the model or measurement is unclear, contact Sensory Assist with the model details and a photo before buying.
Compare the three 19mm cane tips
| Option | Base width | Overall tip height | Product code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard 19mm ferrule | 40mm diameter | 50mm | 52006 |
| Tri-Leg cane tip | Approx. 95mm, point to point | Approx. 75mm | 52007 |
| Quad Leg cane tip | Approx. 120mm, point to point | Approx. 60mm | 52008 |
All three are specified for 19mm cane tubing. The overall tip heights above are product dimensions, not a stated amount of extra height added to your cane.
Standard ferrule: a compact, single-base replacement
The standard Max Mobility 19mm tip has a grooved base, a metal washer insert and a black finish. Its 40mm base is narrower than the multi-point options in this comparison. It is the option to inspect when replacing a matching standard ferrule.
Quintro also lists a separate 16mm version. That does not make the 19mm version interchangeable with a 16mm fitting. Check the exact item and your cane specifications.
Tri-Leg or Quad Leg: compare the footprint
The Tri-Leg has three contact points and weighs approximately 165g. The Quad Leg has four contact points and weighs approximately 215g. The Quad Leg is wider, while the Tri-Leg is taller as a separate component.
These are different base designs, so do not assume that the largest one is automatically the right choice. If you are changing from a single-base tip, confirm compatibility and the effect on your cane's setup with the supplier or a qualified professional.
The supplier says some canes may self-stand with these tips. This is not a guarantee for every cane or surface, and does not establish that a particular configuration is suitable for you.
