Memory Foam Pillows Australia: Our Sleep Range Compared

The right pillow makes the difference between waking up sharp and waking up sore. Memory foam pillows have become the default choice for Australian sleepers because they hold their shape under your head, support the neck, and don't flatten out the way feather or polyester pillows do. We stock six memory foam pillows for different sleep styles and needs — this guide covers what each one's for and how customers choose between them.

Why memory foam for sleep?

Memory foam responds to body heat and pressure, moulding to the contours of your head and neck overnight. Three things that matter:

  • Consistent support. Foam doesn't go flat the way other fills do — your neck position stays steady through the night.
  • Pressure distribution. Weight spreads evenly across the foam, so you don't get the sore spots that come from a hard or lumpy pillow.
  • Quiet. No crinkling fill, no air pockets shifting around. Particularly useful if you're a light sleeper.

Our memory foam pillow range

Cloud Pillow — $99

Neptune Cloud Pillow — contoured memory foam pillow with cooling cover, Sensory Assist Australia

Our most popular memory foam pillow. Single-piece moulded memory foam with a contoured shape that supports the neck curve, plus a cooling cover that doesn't trap heat. The all-rounder — works for back and side sleepers, comfortable through Australian summers and winters.

Best for: First-time memory foam buyers, back and side sleepers, anyone who wants a "set and forget" pillow.

Sliced Memory Foam Pillow — $99

Sliced Memory Foam Pillow — adjustable shredded foam fill, Sensory Assist Australia

Filled with shredded memory foam pieces rather than a single block. The advantage: you can add or remove foam to dial in the loft and firmness. The shredded fill also breathes better than a solid block, so it sleeps cooler than the Cloud Pillow on hot nights.

Best for: Sleepers who want to fine-tune the fit, hot sleepers who need extra airflow, anyone who's had bad luck with fixed-loft pillows.

Neptune DreamForm Memory Pillow — $79

Neptune DreamForm Memory Pillow — orthopaedic contoured pillow for neck support

Our orthopaedic option. The contour is more pronounced than the Cloud Pillow — designed for sleepers who need firm, structured neck support. Two height profiles in the contour let you flip the pillow to suit different sleep positions or different nights.

Best for: Side sleepers, anyone who wakes up with a stiff neck, sleepers who've been told to use an orthopaedic pillow.

Knee Pillow II — $49

Neptune Knee Pillow II — memory foam pillow for between knees, side sleepers

Not for your head — this one goes between your knees if you sleep on your side. Memory foam shaped to keep the upper leg supported so the hips and lower back stay neutral overnight. Customers tell us it's the cheapest single fix for side-sleeper hip and lower-back stiffness.

Best for: Side sleepers, pregnancy (combine with the Nest Dual), anyone who wakes up with hip or lower-back niggles.

The Big Soft Pillow — $149

The Neptune Big Soft Pillow — oversized memory foam pillow

Our oversized indulgence pillow. Bigger than a standard pillow with a softer feel — sleepers who like to sink in rather than sit on top of the pillow love this one. Also doubles as a reading or TV-in-bed pillow.

Best for: Sleepers who run cold, anyone who reads in bed, "I want to feel hugged by the pillow" types.

The Nest Dual — Pregnancy Pillow — $109

The Nest Dual 2-Part Pregnancy Pillow — memory foam support for expecting mums

A two-part pregnancy support pillow — the bump rest and the back/knee support combine into a U-shape that holds you in side-sleeping position. Memory foam fill rather than the cheap polyester used in most pregnancy pillows. Customers tell us it's the most-used baby-prep purchase they made.

Best for: Second and third trimesters, postpartum recovery, anyone who needs serious side-sleep support.

How to choose

If you're not sure which one to start with, the quick guide:

What customers say

"I've been buying replacement pillows every 6 months for years. The Cloud Pillow has held its shape for 18 months and still feels like new." — Hannah, NSW

"Wish I'd bought the Sliced version instead of a fixed-loft pillow. Being able to add or take out foam to get the height right has been a game changer for my neck pain." — Pete, QLD

"Bought the Knee Pillow as a $49 'try it' purchase. My side-sleeping hip ache is just gone. Should have done it years ago." — Renée, VIC

Common questions about memory foam pillows

How long do memory foam pillows last?

Quality memory foam pillows hold their shape for 2-3 years of nightly use, compared to 6-12 months for polyester. The Cloud Pillow and DreamForm tend to outlast the shredded variants because there are no individual pieces to compress.

Do memory foam pillows get hot?

Solid-block memory foam can trap heat — the Cloud Pillow uses a cooling cover to manage this. Shredded versions like the Sliced Memory Foam Pillow breathe better and stay cooler naturally. For really hot summer nights, pair any of them with our Chill Blanket.

Can I wash a memory foam pillow?

The covers are machine washable on cold. Don't submerge or wash the foam itself — spot clean only and air-dry.

Are memory foam pillows good for kids?

Standard adult memory foam pillows can be too thick for kids under 8. For older kids and teens, the Cloud Pillow works well. For younger kids, a thinner cotton or polyester pillow is usually a better fit.

Are memory foam pillows NDIS funded?

Many NDIS plan managers will fund therapeutic pillows as low-cost assistive technology, particularly for participants with chronic pain or sleep concerns. We're no longer NDIS registered, but you can purchase from us and claim through your plan manager. We'll send a tax invoice on request.

What pairs well with a memory foam pillow?

Most customers add a cooling blanket for hot nights, a weighted blanket for the calming pressure, and a weighted eye mask for total wind-down.
