Lycra Body Socks: A Parent's Guide
Lycra Body Socks: A Parent's Guide
Thinking about trying a body sock for the first time? Here's a practical guide covering what to expect, how to size it, and tips from parents who've been through the introductions.
What to Expect the First Time
Some kids climb straight in and love it. Others need a bit of warming up — and that's completely normal. Customers tell us the best approach is to leave it on the floor and let your child explore it in their own time. Don't force it. Let them poke it, stretch it, and step in when they're ready.
A few tips from parents:
- Start with just the feet and legs — they don't need to go all the way in on day one
- Try it during play time, not when they're already overwhelmed
- Join in! Stretch the fabric with them, make it a game
- Some kids prefer it with socks on so the lycra doesn't feel strange on bare feet
Sizing Guide
Our Lycra Body Sock comes in 5 sizes, from small (suits ages 3-5) through to extra large (teens and adults). The lycra is stretchy, so there's some give in each size. If your child is between sizes, customers tell us going up usually works better — it gives more room to move and play.
The Hug-a-Shrug is an upper-body-only option for kids who want the pressure on their shoulders and torso without the full-body experience.
Care & Washing
Body socks are machine washable. Pop it in a gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent. Hang dry rather than tumble dry — the lycra keeps its stretch better that way. Most customers tell us they wash theirs weekly and it stays in great shape for months.
What Age to Start?
Our smallest size suits kids from about 3 years old. There's no upper age limit — we sell plenty to teenagers and adults too. Customers tell us older kids and teens often use them to wind down after school, while younger kids tend to use them for active play.
