Big Soft Pillow for Sleep: Hugging, Knee Support and Pregnancy Use
Most pillows are designed for the head. The Neptune Big Soft Pillow is designed for the rest of you — chest, lap, hip, knees, the bits of your body that need support and don't get it from a regular pillow. Customers buy it for sleep, but it earns its keep across the whole 24 hours.
How it helps with sleep
Three patterns we hear from customers about overnight use:
- Side sleepers hugging it. The size is right for wrapping arms around or holding against the chest — pressure that calms restless sleepers, support that keeps the upper arm from collapsing forward.
- Back sleepers under the knees. Lifts the knees slightly to take pressure off the lower back. A common physio recommendation that's hard to do with a small pillow.
- Pregnant sleepers using it for tummy support. An informal alternative to a dedicated pregnancy pillow — particularly useful in the second trimester before the bump is large enough to need full body support.
Why size matters here
Regular pillows are sized for the head and stop being useful as soon as you need to support a larger area. The Big Soft Pillow gives you actual area to work with — enough to wrap an arm around, prop knees on, or settle a tummy against. The fill responds to pressure but holds shape, so it doesn't flatten under sustained weight.
What it doesn't do
This isn't a memory foam pillow. It won't replace your regular bedside pillow for head-and-neck support overnight. It's an additional sleep tool — most customers use it alongside a memory foam pillow rather than in place of one. See our memory foam pillows guide for the head-pillow range.
What customers say
"I've slept with mine wrapped around my chest for six months. Best sleep upgrade I've made since switching to a memory foam mattress." — Tara, NSW
"My physio told me to put a pillow under my knees for back pain. The Big Soft Pillow is the first one I've found that actually stays in shape under my weight all night." — Dan, VIC
"Bought it during pregnancy as a between-knee and tummy support. Two years later it's still in nightly use as my hugging pillow." — Hannah, QLD
What pairs well with it
- A quality head pillow — see our memory foam pillows guide
- A cooling blanket for hot summer nights
- A weighted blanket for the calming-pressure overnight feel
Common questions
Is it too big for the bed?
Most queen and king beds easily accommodate it as a bedmate without crowding the regular pillows. Single beds it's tighter but still workable for one sleeper.
Will it cause overheating?
The size means more contact area against your body, so it does retain some heat. Hot sleepers often pair it with a cooling blanket rather than dropping it from the setup.
Can I use it as a pregnancy pillow?
Many customers do — particularly second trimester. For dedicated late-pregnancy support, the Nest Dual is purpose-built (see our memory foam pillow range).
Are these NDIS funded?
Many NDIS plan managers will fund therapeutic pillows as low-cost assistive technology. We're no longer NDIS registered, but you can purchase from us and claim through your plan manager.
