You've come to the perfect place if you’re an occupational therapist, teacher, or parent looking to find the right tools for kids with sensory processing disorders or special needs. Sensory Sensations is a premier brand in Australia that carries a wide selection of sensory toys. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for people with Autism or sensory processing disorder by promoting a world where all things are possible.
Sensory processing is how we take sensory information from our senses and process it into appropriate responses to that information.
People with sensory processing disorder struggle to interpret sensory information correctly. They may experience problems with the senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch, or movement, causing issues with behaviour, development, and learning.
Sensory processing challenges fall into two categories. These are hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity. A person can either experience one or a combination of both problems.
It’s a coping mechanism that can lead to sensory avoidance, where people tend to avoid certain sights, sounds, smells, or textures. For people with hypersensitivity, it can be challenging to function in everyday situations.
It’s a common term used to describe people who crave or require more sensation in their lives, resulting in emotionality, discomfort, and distractibility. People with hyposensitivity have trouble focusing, making daily tasks extremely difficult.
People with sensory disorders often experience anxiety and express this through repeated behaviour. The best way to control this is by providing them with toys to divert their attention and reduce stress. Relaxing Bubble Tube and Atomic Bead Stress Ball are great examples of toys that help for calming and soothing.
We ensure that every item meets our high standards, providing you with peace of mind.
